There are so many styles that use nunchucks and there is no wrong way whether traditionalist or freestyle that have been practicing for hundreds of years. The techniques involved differ and most times you get your little cliques that swear that there way is the only way. However that is not the case.
I have studied many of the techniques and have barely scratched the surface. Level 4 was something i came across by accident when i was in my late teens.
I was into pure speed and flow trying to find the perfect routine or non routine.
it usually takes about 2 to 3 hours to get into the rythm and then it happened for the first time, i had no clue what, happened.
although it will only last for about 20-50 seconds depending on your stamina.
You will get into the zone complete focus nothing else at that point exists, there comes a point that the nunchucks actually swing all by themselves and you are there for the ride.
When you hit the zone it actually feels like hours have passed, but in reality it only lasts for about a minute.(I beleive that is the point of imprinting)
I routinely started practicing to hit this zone for many years, when i met someone else at a wedding by chance who talked about the same feeling or hitting this zone, we spoke for hours on the subject . I was invited to a private session with other practioners who studied the art of nunchaku. Each person was incredible and had their own specialty moves.
However they studied Spiritual Imprinting. As the new guy they wanted proof and asked to use my nunchucks in a demonstration that would last throughout the night. At first I thought it was kind of creepy I didn’t know any of these people and i was saying to myself what did i just get involved in. But within a few hours each of these guys were hitting the zone and duplicating my every move without ever seeing me practice before.
When it came time for my turn I was handed a pair of nunchucks that were someone else’s and when i hit this zone i was duplicating the exact moves of the person who imprinted the nunchucks move for move without ever seeing him use them before. I studied with this group for 2 years before i was in an accident and put in traction for 3 years. i never heard from or seen any of these guys again. I keep hoping by adding my small hints to these forums i might one day find these guys again.
So without ever hitting the zone yourself one can never know what imprinting is until they feel it for themselves.
